Oui Mais… Non!

On Friday 20 October St. Conleth’s French debating team were tasked by the Alliance Française with arguing against the motion: « Le droit de vote devrait être accordé dès l ’âge de 16 ans. » (that is, ‘Argue against giving the vote from the age of 16 years old.’). Led by Captain Russell Bolger, our team of Fergus O’Reilly, Louis McGovern and Sophia Jacobi held their own against a team from Loreto Balbriggan. It looked ‘touch and go’ as to which team would win but unfortunately the judges sided with Loreto at the end while awarding the prize of best speaker to Louis McGovern. Special thanks to the other members of French debating Ignacio Taccetti, Oisin Reilly and Turlough Dineen for their help in the lead up and support on the day, and facilitating teachers Mr. Baneham and Mrs. Crowley.
