On Point!

10 October 2023

We read about our rugby heroics below, and soon will have some basketball news, but there is one sport which we have been playing since the ominous autumnal days of 1939: fencing! And the (winning) tradition continues! First Year Michael Davitt won the first event of the Fencing Ireland Youth Competitions Calender, the Lord Killanin Trophy (U14’s). Michael was seeded No.1, thereby skipping the qualification rounds and going straight into the elimination match-ups: and he backed up his ranking!  Michael beat Evan Burke in the quarter-final 10/4; Matthew O’Farrell was despatched in the semi-final 10/1; and Luke Quinlan from Munster Blades was beaten by Michael in the final 10/3. A great start to the season, and another worthy entry in the storied annals of St. Conleth’s fencing!
