A Rugged Start!
25 September 2024It was a mixed start to the season for St. Conleth’s rugby teams. Both the JCT and SCT showed great grit, effort, skill and promise in their league openers versus New Park but the wins eluded us. Mr. Morris’s JCT lost a closely-fought match, due to the nigh untackleable running of one outsized New Park player, yet our players never hung their heads and kept fighting to the end, with Third Year Sam MacKenzie showing a particularly high level of both skill and effort.
The SCT, afterwards, were in a tight, tough contest but beginning to turn the tide when an unfortunate and accidental but undeniably dangerous tackle led to the suspension of the match. Coach Gav Maguire and Captain Cillian Cooke will surely regroup and rally the troops for their next fixture.
