Uhhhh…. S Club 7!

7 March 2025

Yes, your age might very well affect your ability to answer particular trivia questions…. that, and your cultural taste! Well, everything was on the table at the Junior and Senior Schools’ Parent Associations’ recent, worthy joint venture: a Quiz Night at the Maldron Hotel which raised funds for blackout blinds in the hall, which will make our already impressive shows and celebrations even more spectacular. The Senior School Staff team, led by returning polymath Peter Williamson, held the lead for so long but were nipped at the bell, partly because Gav Maguire couldn’t remember what ‘IRFU’ stands for… And the Junior School teachers didn’t repeat last year’s second place, with Eoin Sheridan carrying too much of the load. The Past Pupil Parents were competitive with Ken Cahill and Caroline Dillon (Class of 1999), now married and with boys in the JS, came in second, despite the ‘young-parent brain addled-ness’! The eventual winners were a mysterious, unknown quantity from First Year Parent cohort and a random family, just staying in the hotel, won a 200 euro voucher for The Maldron! The slightly less ubiquitous (these days) Ronan O’ Kelly was a brilliant emcee. And The Maldron Hotel were super hosts, proving to be loyal partners with the school. The hotel donated loads of prizes as well as the use of a function room (without charging!), on the same day that the Maldron-sponsored Senior Rugby Team won their Plate Semi-final! A fun night was had by all and the cash and crypto-currencies filled the coffers. Thanks, parents!
