The Sweet Scent of Victory!

17 January 2025

Yes, spring is in the air, as the tundra melts and we enjoy the ever stretching day. But another particular aroma in the atmosphere of St. Conleth’s is the scent of victory! We would not suggest breathing it in too deeply if you happen to run into SCT post-training but all that hard work and sweat certainly paid off as the team have secured a spot in the McMullen Shield Semi-Final after a fantastic win against a superb New Park team. Our boys really fought for each other and sealed the win, fighting off a late New Park comeback in the first official game played on the new astro pitch at Wanderers’.

And that winning spirit of the SCT is spreading throughout St. Conleth’s sports programme. Our 1st & 2nd Girls Basketball Teams both won their games vs. St. Paul’s, with Jess Powers, Maya Harrington, Eleanor Hobbs and Arianna Lai leading First Years to an 26-2 victory and Elsie O’Connell, Tanya Plant and Goya Gallagher doing the job for Second Years, aided by Siun Hickey and Ada Clarke who are 1st years who ‘played up’. 1st & 2nd Year Boys split vs. St. Colmcille’s, with our First years winning 26 – 10 and showing some slick moves and snappy shooting, especially by Jack O Connor (10 pts) and Tom Gormley (8 pts) and Second Years, led by parson Yu and Even O Mahony, bravely battling a very strong team.
