Spring Sports Wrap
28 April 2025ur Our SCT’s and JCT’s end-of-season runs were brilliant but our Spring season featured many other sporting heroes. We have red about them regularly but here is a wrap-up of last term’s action:
Tennis: Mr. Lonergan runs approximately two dozen tennis teams and we fellow teachers never complain that we have to cover Geography 2A while he is out sunning himself on the clay courts of the Herbo! Seriously, Mr. Lonergan has done an amazing job with both the boys and girls teams. Sixth Year Joe Kelleher, a top-ten Irish player, is again leading the way but some fresh talent has arisen, as witnessed when Second Year Parson Yu (playing up two levels!) dramatically won a 3-2 match-maker!
And some action shops from our TY photographer, Diarmaid!
Roisin’s Rugby: The school’s best rugby player is on neither the JCT or SCT as she is Sixth Year Roisin Ridge! You read below about her Six Nations exploits but here is she with her ceremonial cap!

GAA: At the recent Scoop Cup in UCD, a combination of Third Years and First Years (featuring the incredible Arianna Lai) took on several schools and reached the final but narrowly lost to Muckross. We also see the girls’ receiving their shield from last season. Well done!

Hockey: After another great year of Conleth’s newest major sport, our girls (and some boys) celebrated with the first ever House Hockey Tournament, and it was a smashing success! House Heaney won, with Crean coming second. It was a brilliant tournament with great hockey from all years!

Basketball
There was plenty of in-term action for our younger teams, with First Year Boys doing particularly well. And two of them, Jack O’Connor and Edward Leahy, joined Coach Sean Ingle for his basketball camp tour of Spain, including a Barcelona (Basketball) game!
