Rocket Boys and Girls!
17 November 2024In terms of selling Chemistry and Physics to the kids, Walter White and Dr. Banner have nothing on our resident lab rat heroes!
First Year embraced the spirit of Science Week and, inspired by Messrs. Callaghan, Cavallero and Musk, they designed, built and launched rockets of various shapes, sizes and aerodynamics! It is rumoured that the US Embassy even sent a helicopter to check things out, such was the pyrotechnics taking place in Herbert Park!
The competition was enjoyable yet fierce and the wannabe engineers produced an impressive array of air and water powered projectiles. The winning rocketeers were Clodagh with “Kevin the Minion” for Best Design and Nishka, winning the Sky-High Rocket Award. And the two winning tables from Wednesday’s Science Week Table Quiz also deserve some recognition: “The Pookie Pies” (Anna, Mariana, Alfie & Sean) and “LeBron’s Socks” (Edward, Hugo & Padraig).
