New World Order
13 March 2025The Donald had better watch out! Mr. Baneham has brought St. Conleth’s back to the Model United Nations and Belarus might soon be a real player on the world stage! Yes, after years of isolationism, St. Conleth’s has once again entered the world’s debating chamber, having last been there in the 1990s with the late, great internationalist Liam McGloinn. At the recent conference at Wesley College, ‘Belarus’ benefitted from the efforts of these noble, and nattily attired, statesmen (listed with respective departmental responsibility):
ESOC (Economics) – Brooke O’Connor (5th year); DITEC (Security) – Emilia Balant (2nd year); Health & Youth – Ivy Nolan (2nd year); Historical – Charlotte O’Donoghue (5th year); SPEC Pol. (international Disputes) – Milo Smith (5th Year); Ecology & Environment – Anna Carroll (5th Year).
The team enthusiastic participated in the various meetings and debates, building up their knowledge of the intricacies of the Model UN set up, and how the Wesley one operates. We didn’t win anything but they said they enjoyed it, and they all stayed for the whole duration of the conference (4.30 – 9.15pm on Friday and 9am – 7.15pm on Saturday).
Rumours that the St. Conleth’s Contingent was sponsored by a generous grant from George Soros are just that- rumours, but we have noticed several fetching, new jumpers in Mr. Baneham’s work wardrobe… including one from M&S!
