Fore! Ryan Wins National Tourney!

9 January 2026

Actually, such is this player’s finesse with the club, he rarely needs to shout the old wayward golf-shot warning! Yes, another Conlethian is winning trophies on the sporting club scene. Fifth Year Ryan Hollingsworth has lit up our classrooms with his ready smile and good humour since his arrival here last September, and he has also continued to light up the greens, being crowned Flogas Irish Junior Tour U19 National Champion. Follows is the tribute that his own club (St. Anne’s) made to Ryan’s accomplishment:
St. Anne’s junior member Ryan Hollingsworth has won the Flogas Irish Junior Tour U19 Two-Day Winter Tour Ping Major at Roganstown on New Year’s Eve. Ryan was the overnight joint leader and held off stiff competition to secure a one-shot victory. He has been a member of St Annes Golf Club for five years and learned the game through the club’s junior programme, led by Bill and the junior committee. Ryan has represented the club at juvenile inter-club level, including the Fingal League and Fred Daly, and was also a member of the Barton Cup squad that reached the Quarter final in 2024. When asked about his plans for the year ahead, Ryan said: “2025 was about playing in scratch cups on courses I’d never played before and also testing myself on the Irish Junior Tour, where I competed three times. I wanted to see where I stood against the best juniors in the country. The focus for 2026 will be to get to scratch and play as many Flogas Irish Tour events as possible.” Ryan should be an inspiration for all the juvenile members of the club.
