A Flock of Sci Goers!

13 January 2025

We are all drawn inexorably to the sea… except for, perhaps, the staunch land-lovers of Laois (which is the only county which does not border a county…). Second Years Elsie O’Connell and Shanael Rebin’s science project, Seas-the-Day, assesses whether living by the sea promotes wellbeing and it is so fascinating and well-researched that it qualified them for the Young Scientist Finals. Well done to the girls and their teacher Mr. Callaghan, and his colleagues, Mr. Cavallero and Mr. Morris. Of course, this being St. Conleth’s, we flock to any sign of success, especially if it involves an adventurous escapade across a frozen Ballsbridge to the RDS. Last Friday, Elsie and Shanael welcomed all of First and Second Years along to see their project and the hundreds of others at the famous competition, and though the teachers left behind sorely missed them, our young scientist enthusiasts loved it, and learned loads!
