26 January 2026St. Conleth’s College Junior School are participating in the The Active School Flag initiative for 2025-26! The ASF is a Department of Education and Skills initiative, supported by Healthy Ireland, that recognises schools for promoting physical activity and education. It aims to encourage a “more schools, more active, more often” culture by having schools self-evaluate and improve their PE, physical activity, and partnerships.
Key Details of the Active School Flag:
- Purpose: To encourage a physically active and educated school community,, focusing on student voice and leadership.
- Process: Schools evaluate their current provision, plan improvements, and organize an Active School Week.
- Criteria: Focuses on four main areas: Physical Education, Physical Activity, Partnerships, and Active School Week.
- Validity: The flag is valid for 3 years
- Inclusivity: The initiative is designed to be child-centered, encouraging, and inclusive.
The initiative aims to create a fun and engaging environment, often incorporating initiatives like Skip Around the World, the Active Break Every Day Challenge and more, in collaboration with partners like the GAA.
