It is 2:00 on a Friday at St. Conleth’s. Sean ‘Hercules’ Moiselle and Christian ‘Hermes’ Farrell are settling into an Odyssey Book XII worksheet in Room 2… Simon ‘0-1’ Ghose and Paddy ‘1-0’ Cahill are digging into ‘diffy Qs‘ in Math class…and Hannah Collins and all the other girls are… getting served lunch in the school hall??? With the election of Hannah, our first female captain, the ‘glass ceiling’ at St. Conleth’s has surely been shattered, and now clearly the matriarchy has begun to establish its rule! Seriously, it was not a very serious event, but rather a fun and friendly one, as Principal Donal ODulaing and Headmaster Kevin Kelleher played host to all our Fifth and Sixth Year girls at a late lunch catered by our own Chef Mark and organised by Ms. Killen. St. Conleth’s prides itself on its warm and cozy atmosphere, and it is events like this that help assure that our newest girls are welcomed properly into the fold. Mr. ODulaing reported back to the staff no overheard secrets, saying only that the talk was mainly about politics and sports, with the odd bit about boys and clothes thrown in.
