Mr. Porzadny, our resident French teacher, raconteur and sensei, reports back on the French Debating Team’s latest victory:
Yes, it is good to be young in Ireland! Tonight this was the motion that was up to debate between the teams of Blackrock and St Conleth’s. On a cold and rainy Irish night, one may therefore think that life would be so much better on a sunny Mexican beach. Against the proposition, this is the kind of argument our team for the opposition could have come up with. But no, this was too easy of a point to be made.
After two successes against the King’s Hospital and Loreto on the green, the team of St Conleth’s had to come fully prepared to tackle a Quarter-final that seemed tougher than ever. And this is exactly what they did. Mary Rose, Francesa, Daniel and Brendan all showed deep knowledge of the topic and self-confidence. They had a remarkable presence on stage and one could clearly make sense of their arguments. Finally, their talent in the use of “la langue de Molière” was “la cerise sur le gâteau”. On this cold and rainy Irish night, no one could have come across victorious against such team.
See you on the 11th of February for the Semi-finals and beyond…
