TYs Set to Spread the Good Word!

An essential part of our Transition Year Programme is local community involvement, and you cannot get more local than our near neighbours, St. Brigid’s/St. Mary’s Primary Schools on Haddington Road.  The Principal of St. Brigid’s, Ms. Annemarie Hogan, recently visited us to renew a special partnership which has developed between the schools.  Every year, carefully selected St. Conleth’s Transition Years spend time at St. Mary’s and St. Brigid’s reading books to (and with) the Infant classes.  The nine week programme is a priceless experience for both the teenagers and the youngsters, as the former get invaluable mentoring experience and the latter benefit from the personal attention.  Of course, there is also a heck of a lot of fun and laughter, too!  One of our TYs, Alex Murphy, is even serving his Work Experience at St. Mary’s.
